What is it? The Danielson Framework for Teaching is a resource available to all educators that outlines specific components of instruction based on research. The framework is broken into 4 domains of teaching responsibilities and those 4 domains are divided into 22 components with several separate elements falling under each of those. The Danielson Framework for Teaching aligns every component to the InTASC standards which outline what beginning teachers should know and be able to do. Lastly, the Danielson Framework for Teaching is based on ideas that can be found in the constructivist view of learning and teaching. Why do we need it? Teachers need the Danielson Framework for Teaching because without standards to hold ourselves to it can be difficult to ensure that every student is receiving the necessary education they deserve. Use of the Danielson Framework assists educators in numerous responsibilities from helping to better meet the needs of all students, to communicating effectively with student's families, to the necessities of conducting themselves professionally, and more.
